E3 2011 (Bethesda)

Bethesda has been the clearest example of brevity and excellence this E3. Had only three titles at the show, but all of unquestionable quality. Clearly one shone above the rest. The Elder Scroll V: Skyrim has been crowned as the best game of the event by many means. Reasons are not lacking, because this is a blockbuster that oozes care by all sides.

The Creation Engine articulates a detailed world as never seen before, under an improved system of control in the third person as leaders has always been a favorite of many fans that grace the series. In the closed-door demo sensed a marked improvement in shadows and animations, as well as general graphic level.

The very broad environments will surprise you, rode from start to finish where we enjoyed the same blades of grass carp that jump in the streams. The detail extends not only to the recreation of the characters, also the weapons and plenty of side items such as potions, notes or each of the 300 books collected during the adventure. Attention also to the weather system, the epic soundtrack and effects are impossible to overcome by immersion.

In Skyrim are important, in addition to the melee, the magic spells. We can throw spells with both hands, combining them to execute special attacks (speed, freezing ...). These are unlocked through a skill tree system similar to what have been seen, for example, in the last Final Fantasy.

In the presentation, they gave us tour to the world itself, we walked through a village that looked alive to all appearances, where each character have their routine interacting with us consistently, which will be key to making money or upgrade weapons.

We spent time inside one of the more than 100 dungeons featuring the game, all of them enjoying a fine textured and light, full of enemies and puzzles to beat.

The final part of the demo consisted in a dramatic battle against few dragons. Confrontation that left us speechless and made us understand perfectly why Skyrim is one of the most anticipated games this year.

Rage, on the other hand showed a substantial improvement over last year, with environments and characters much more polished. We enjoyed several games in urban environments inside and outside, very broad horizons before us and órdago fighting fun checking in which the effect of multiple ammunition available (hence their weapons).
However, except for Mutant Bash TV, RAGE is showing a lack of personality, something that will have to improve substantially is the plot if the title is intended to make any impression on the player. RAGE may otherwise be an enjoyable experience more in multiplayer than anything else.

They show a little bit about PREY 2, but enough to appease those who craved the return of the most famous Indian gravitational sector. The gameplay remains intact, fortunately, something I hesitate to glimpse the first images of the title. We are in a direct sequel, where the portals again are an essential part of the gameplay, also the sequel is showing an important improvement in graphics. Yet we should play it first hand to give a reliable verdict. First impression: positive.
