Marvel Comics has long since been preparing their own MMO called in the beginnig Marvel Universe Online and is now known as Marvel Heroes. The project was being canceled because of disagreements between the original developers Cryptic Studios and publisher, but now has new vigor.
The game is being developed by Gazillion Entertainment and will come in the form Free to Play where micro-transactions will be available but subscribers will not have to pay anything to access the content, which is excellent news.
The MMO will have the peculiarity that users can unlock characters from a long list of super heroes of the house of ideas and play with them, unlike its counterpart DC Universe Online, where you create an original character you can choose to a hero or villain as his mentor. Presumably there will also be creating original characters but no information was given about it until now.
Brian Michael Bendis (House of M, Secret Invasion, Dark Avengers, Ultimate X-Men)-one of the most prolific writers of today, has been responsible for shaping the new world mythology of which revolve around a plan from the villain Doctor Doom will take place in "iconic locations and scenes drawn from classic Marvel comics history."
Regarding the technical details, Marvel Heroes will use Unreal Engine 3 from Epic Games although we have no release date.
